Nowadays, the number of rhinoplasty operations is gradually increasing. Surgeon Dr. Alpaslan Yildirim gave important information about what the patients will encounter in rhinoplasty operations, and what are experienced in the preoperative and postoperative periods. “Rhinoplasty is a procedure intended for eliminating deformities of the nose in terms of its outer view, by also regulating the air passage, without disturbing the facial harmony or crossing the line of naturalness. An ideal nose should be a natural-looking nose in harmony with the face, but in an aesthetic form and free from imperfections.
“AN AESTHETIC NOSE SHOULD BE TAILOR-MADE”
Emphasizing that a rhinoplasty plan should be tailor-made, Surgeon Dr. Alpaslan Yildirim said “Rhinoplasty can be performed on every healthy adult who has completed the age of 18.” Yildirim said that the most important step in a rhinoplasty operation is to evaluate the nose and plan the intended corrections in consultation with the patient.
For patients who want to have a rhinoplasty but have questions in their minds, surgeon Dr. Alpaslan Yildirim summarized, in five steps, what they will be experience before and after operation:
1) At least two interviews are made with the patient before the surgery, for planning the surgery and telling the patient about the process to be experienced.
2) On the day of surgery, the answers given to the questions are confirmed with the preoperative interview, and then patient is prepared for the operation.
3) Routine examinations, tests and anesthesia examinations are carried out for the patient hospitalized for surgery.
4) The rhinoplasty operation that takes 1 to 3 hours on average is performed.
5) After the operation, the patient is discharged following an overnight hospital stay.
“THE NOSE COMPLETES 50% OF THE RECOVERY WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH”
“On the seventh day after the operation, the patient is removed from the splint and silicone buffers. The patient keeps the bandage in place for 3 to 4 days. When we reach the 10th day, the patient’s nose remains uncovered. The nose completes 50% of the recovery within the first month. The remaining 50% of the recovery is achieved within a period between 6 and12 months. The patient continues to go for follow-up controls in the 1st, 3rd, and 6th postoperative months and the 1st and 2nd postoperative years” surgeon. Dr. Yildirim said.
