Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)
Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery is intended for opening the blocked sinus ducts. In this technique, the unhealthy tissues are eliminated, and the blocked sinus ducts are opened with the help of endoscopic devices that show inside the nose and the sinuses. During Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, the surgeon aims at removing the unhealthy tissue that blocks the sinuses and causes infection. Ideally, removal of the tissue that causes the congestion allows for permanently opening the previously blocked sinus ducts.
